Bikur Cholim of Cleveland History

  • Bikur Cholim of Cleveland was founded in 1988 by a group of volunteers who recognized the need for a communal structure to serve the needs of Jewish sick patients and their families.
  • In 1994, Bikur Cholim was incorporated as a non-profit organization. Since its inception, Bikur Cholim experienced several milestone expansions:
  • Homes

    • 1997: Purchased Shannon Road house; opened March 1998
    • 2005: Zaidman house given for Bikur Cholim use
    • 2010: purchased Bendemeer Road house; opened Oct 2012
  • Hospitality rooms

    • 2007: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus
    • 2010: University Hospitals
    • 2011: Hillcrest Hospital
    • 2011: Ahuja Hospital
    • 2013: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus expansion
